Three per year.
All current tenured faculty members with a minimum of three years of teaching experience at the Pennsylvania State University are eligible.
Nominations will be accepted from students, faculty, administrators, staff, parents, alumni, and friends of Penn State. All nominations from all locations shall be put forward on the basis of academic college. Candidate evaluations will be made on the basis of excellence and lasting impact in areas including general teaching ability, academic advising and career guidance, enthusiasm, and commitment. Nomination materials can be obtained from the Schreyer Institute for Teaching Excellence.
Prescreening will be done by each college and approved by the dean. Final selection will be made by a University committee comprising three alumni volunteers, three current faculty members, three students, and one administrative representative of the Penn State Alumni Association.
Nominations are solicited in the fall. Deadline is June 30, at 5 p.m. Selection is made near the beginning of the second academic semester. The award is announced at the spring Alumni Council meeting and presented at the Faculty and Staff Awards Ceremony in March of each year.
