Statement:The first time I visited the University Park campus in 1989, I knew I was home. It has been 25 years since graduation and that feeling of belonging still remains. I am honored to be considered for election to the Alumni Council.

Penn State provided the foundation for my personal and professional accomplishments. Through campus leadership, I found my voice and I have used it to shout “We Are” at every turn. As a member of Alumni Council, my focus will be to increase alumni involvement in the various colleges and the Alumni Association.

In short, I want to bring more alumni home. As a mentor and speaker for the Penn State College of Health and Human Development, I understand the value and importance of alumni-student engagement. It is paramount that we assist students in navigating the University and guide them as they prepare for their careers. Through mentoring, we are instilling commitment by our example. I also believe that we are cultivating the next generation of Alumni Council leaders. As president of one African American Alumni Organization chapter and member of another, I have reintroduced the University to many inactive alumni and encouraged them to be more involved. As the co-chair of the Black Alumni Reunion, our committee increased alumni association membership, gained mentors for the FastStart program, and contributed more than $10,000 to scholarships. When alumni come home, the university and the students benefit.

I look forward to serving you. Thank you for your consideration.

For the Glory,

(Member, Penn State Alumni Association; co-chair, 2016 & 2018 Black Alumni Reunion; mentor, FastStart; mentor, College of Health and Human Development; speaker, College of Health and Human Development “Professionals in the Classroom” series; contributor, Candid Careers video, College of Health and Human Development; past president, AAAO-DC AIG; member, AAAO-Philadelphia AIG; past president, Delta Sigma Theta, Epsilon Gamma Chapter)
