Citizens around the world face new realities in this new century. Learn about a successful example of global education, initiated at Penn State Greater Allegheny in 2004. The program focuses on internationalizing undergraduate curriculum and providing incentives for interdisciplinary collaboration, with an emphasis on student research. Among the advantages of this low-cost model are its broad coverage of students and its flexibility and applicability to a wide range of educational institutions.

Verónica Montecinos is a Chilean sociologist whose career at Penn State started over two decades ago. Her main areas of specialization include democratization and technocratic politics; the history of economics and economic ideas in Latin America; market reforms and gender; and women as political executives.
