One great benefit of getting involved with the Penn State Alumni Association as a student is the opportunity to be mentored by one of many outstanding Penn State graduates. We offer two unique programs that pair students with alumni.

FastStart Mentoring ProgramFirst year students, primarily from underrepresented backgrounds, can enroll in the FastStart Mentoring Program to be matched with a faculty/staff and alumni mentor. This mentor will help them flourish in their new collegiate environment by answering questions, directing students to resources, offering support and wisdom, and providing informal networks for career development.

Society of Distinguished Alumni (SDA): Schreyer’s Honor College Mentoring Program: We have an amazing opportunity specifically for Schreyer’s Scholars. During the spring semester, applications for the Society of Distinguished Alumni (SDA) Mentoring Program will be distributed. The SDA is a group of Distinguished Alumni Award winners, the highest honor bestowed by Penn State upon an outstanding alumna or alumnus. Through this mentoring program, you will be carefully matched with one of these exceptional alums for the following academic year, and by interacting via emails, phone calls, letters and in-person meetings, you will gain invaluable knowledge and advice about life, Penn State, and the professional world. Contact Donna Meyer at for more information.
