Help/Volunteer

Looking for a way to give back to Penn State?

In addition to financial support, Penn State relies on alumni for everything from helping to recruit future students to mentoring existing students to hiring recent grads and alumni for internships and permanent employment. Here are several quick and easy ways to get involved.

Advocate for Penn State

The Grassroots Network coordinates the Alumni Association's legislative education and advocacy efforts. Since 2003, thousands of Penn Staters have joined the Network to work on Penn State's behalf. For more information on the Grassroots Network, click here.

Post a Job

Nittany Lion Alumni Recruiting links employers with potential employees through Alumni Career Services. Employers can also post jobs and learn about on–campus interviewing and career fairs at Penn State Career Services.

Mentor/Network with Students

The Alumni Association and Division of Student Affairs co–sponsor several programs that help alumni connect to students and other alumni.

  • LionLink is a professional networking program that links Penn State students and alumni with alumni volunteer Career Coaches. More info for both students/alumni exploring career options and for alumni will to volunteer for LionLink is here.

  • FastStart matches first–year, underrepresented students with an alumni mentor or a faculty/staff mentor with the goal of helping students make a successful transition to Penn State. Learn more about FastStart here.

Recruit High School Students

The Undergraduate Admissions Office relies on a network of alumni to help with staffing college fairs across the country. Read more about the Alumni Admissions Volunteer Program.

Support Scholarships

Alumni support of current students is essential given the high cost of higher education. Many alumni groups—chapters, interest groups, and affiliate program groups—raise money in support of group–sponsored scholarships benefitting students from defined geographic areas or with specific interests. Alumni can also support scholarships in general by donating to For the Future: The Campaign for Penn State Students, now in progress.

Give to Penn State

Supporting Penn State ensures that current and future Penn Staters receive the same quality education Penn State has provided for more than 150 years. More information on giving opportunities is available here.
