Networking
“We Are!” is the essence of being a Penn Stater, so when it comes to networking, Penn Staters should have an obvious advantage. In fact, a recent article in College Magazine ranked Penn State as the No. 1 networking school in the country. But how do you go about creating a network to help your career? These resources can support your networking efforts.
Alumni Career Services
LionLink
LionLink is a LinkedIn-style networking program exclusive to Penn Staters, where you can connect with alumni who can answer your career questions, provide valuable insights and facilitate formal and informal mentoring opportunities. LionLink also offers resources on job search topics, effective networking, résumé writing, cover letters, graduate school applications, and more. Available to all students and alumni at alumni.psu.edu/lionlink.
LionLink Projects
LionLink Projects connects Penn State alumni with students and recent graduates through project-based work. Using LionLink, alumni can post projects that students or recent graduates can complete within 8 weeks. These projects will give students and recent graduates opportunities to get real-world experience and build their résumés by applying the knowledge they have learned in the classroom. In turn, alumni will gain support for their company or organization from talented Penn State students and new graduates.
Networking Events
Grow your network by connecting with other Penn Staters and meeting new people. Events typically feature a speaker, ample networking opportunities, food, door prizes and even some Penn State swag. Events are held in various cities and are often co-sponsored with Penn State alumni groups. See what’s coming up on our events page.
How to Network
You know networking has great benefits for your career, but where do you begin? Recent graduates and students understand the value of the Penn State network but often don’t know where to start, or what they offer to alumni. Here are a few tips to help you build a successful network.
