Eileen Supko ’85 Eng

Eileen Supko is president of Energy Resources International, where she specializes in nuclear fuel management and radioactive materials transport and provides expert analysis for utilities, governments, industry organizations, and private companies.

After earning her bachelor’s degree in nuclear engineering from Penn State in 1985, Supko began her career at Carolina Power & Light as an engineer responsible for nuclear fuel management. She joined Energy Resources International in 1990 as vice president and senior consultant and was promoted to president and principal in 2013.

A highly respected consultant, Supko has authored or co-authored reports and handbooks on technical, regulatory, and policy frameworks associated with the storage and transport of spent nuclear fuel. Supko serves as the principal representative in North America for the World Nuclear Transport Institute. She frequently testifies as an expert witness in litigation before the U.S. Court of Federal Claims and in nuclear fuel contract disputes, speaks at industry conferences, and contributes to national and international policy discussions.

Supko received the Outstanding Engineering Alumni Award in 2009 and currently serves on the College of Engineering’s Campaign Committee. She was a founding member of the Penn State Nuclear Engineering Society. Supko also is a member of the American Nuclear Society, U.S. Women in Nuclear, and the American Coalition for Ukraine.

Supko is a life member of the Alumni Association and resides in Fairfax, Va., with her husband, Brian O’Connell.
